Interactive Project Manager
JK Design (www.jkdesign.com) is a well-established creative interactive agency with a 25+ year history. NJBiz has consistently ranked us as one of their Top 50 New Jersey Internet Technology Firms. Our headquarters is located in a relaxed environment in central New Jersey (Hillsborough). Many of our clients are also located in central NJ and the surrounding region. Most employees are required to work on-site at our office and also meet with our clients at their locations, and occassionally our NYC satellite office.
Our interactive team creates small to large websites and custom content management systems with open source tools. We also create video productions that include videotaped and animated segments. We have an immediate need for a full-time Interactive/Web Project Manager to join our interactive team.
This position performs account manager, project manager, site architect and quality control functions. You must be very comfortable with client interaction and have a broad understanding of Web/Interactive/Mobile technologies and various platforms. Although this is not a programming position, you must also be able to “talk tech” at the business level (Linux, Windows, XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, SQL Server, AJAX, Javascript, Jquery, Flash, AfterEffects).
This position reports to the VP Interactive & I.T. with a dotted line to our Sr Interactive Project Manager - and it also involves working closely with our account managers on some projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to review their existing websites, mobile apps and technical architecture and help them understand website and mobile technology and design options.
- Research client companies and businesses to understand their target markets and goals.
- Write business proposals for potential new clients.
- Create project plans and keep projects on schedule and on track. Utilize in-person and basecamp.com communication with clients and the project team (designers, producers, programmers and copywriters) on a regular basis to ensure they are fulfilling their obligations.
- Prevent scope creep by documenting change requests and future phases, and discussing project scope changes with clients.
- Conduct project status meetings with internal staff and clients to ensure they are satisfied with project progress.
- Lead paper-prototyping sessions (using iplotz) with clients to determine overall site application architecture, navigation and content placement.
- Lead functional requirements-gathering sessions with clients and create user requirements/functional specification documents (includes site maps, wireframes, user scenario flows or use cases, and other business logic documentation).
- Design high-level database schema for storing client product details.
- Work with design staff to ensure a high level of usability in the end product.
- Create content inventories for clients and publish content for clients via our CMS (content management system).
- Train clients how to update websites through WYSIWYG CMS systems.
- Assist with billing/invoicing of client projects.
- Meet aggressive deadlines, even when this requires extended work hours.
Required Experience (2 years minimum)/Qualifications:
- Experience as a Web producer, project manager, business analyst or information architect for Web-related projects.
- Must be a self-starter with high standards and the ability to work independently and lead a small team; must be able to discuss and suggest options/solutions to internal staff and clients.
Pluses:
- Strong visual, design and creative skills (although this is not a graphic design position)
- An understanding of SEO (search engine optimization) techniques as they pertains to content placement, good use of H1, H2, ALT tags and customized Page Titles and Descriptions
- Experience working with and setting up Linux-based Web hosting companies/environments (e.g., Pair Networks, ServInt, Peer1, Rackspace)
- Familiarity with W3 standards and ADA compliance issues
- Experience as a usability specialist
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
