Proposal
Prior to a project being started, JK Design will meet with you to discuss your goals, objectives and target audiences and learn about your branding, content strategy, business processes, technical systems and high level user requirements. After we meet with you, we will write a Creative Brief and/or Project Proposal to document the scope, deliverables, schedule and budget for your project.
Step 1: Discover
A good blueprint is essential to the success of any project. You and your contractor wouldn't build a home without a blueprint would you? Of course you wouldn't! So why would you build a Web site or Mobile App without a plan?
Our Discover Step is an essential part of every Web, Interactive & Mobile project. During this step, we will meet with you on a weekly basis, to create the blueprint for your project, otherwise known as the Functional Specifications. This document includes a site map, wireframes and final functional requirements. The Functional Specs are created so they are uniformly understandable by all people involved in the project.
If required, we will also create system flowcharts, use cases, and possibly technical specifications to document the Web server or Mobile device technical environments.
Step 2: Design
Based on the documents created during Step 1, we will design a custom graphical home page interface design and sub-page designs. Depending on the project budget, we may create 2 or 3 home page designs. You pick your favorite, and we have a couple rounds of changes to tweak the design to best meet your needs. Sub-pages are then based off the approved home page design.
Step 3: Debrief
The Client and JK Design will meet to review the original scope as defined in the proposal, against the actual user requirements defined in the functional specifications. The final project fee/budget and possible schedule for the remaining steps will then be determined. If the actual user requirements exceed the original scope, the project budget may exceed the High Fee Estimates defined within the proposal.
Step 4: Data & Content
JK Design may create a Content Plan which documents the Web or Mobile pages that must be populated and related content. If you currently have a Website and/or database of content, JK Design may be able to automatically convert portions of it from your old site, to your new site. We also have copywriters on staff, who can either write original content for you, or edit what you have for best use.
Step 5: Develop
Our developers will design the database and code the HTML, Scripting (misc programming languages), SEO components, and SQL based on the Functional Specifications and interface designs. The database (if created) will also be populated with content that must be supplied and uploaded by the Client via the CMS. Unit testing by the programmer is also included in this step.
Step 6: Deploy & Warranty
JK Design will deploy the Website to the production environment where we'll then perform a system test to confirm that it has met or exceeded the Client’s requirements. The Client will subsequently be asked to perform a User Acceptance Test of the entire Project. When the site is launched, the project is considered complete. Our warranty period begins, and any bugs discovered during this time, will be corrected as per our warranty.
