Honoring—and supporting—the organizations that support our communities.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to encourage people to do good—not just on the annual celebration on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, but every Tuesday (and other days of the week, too!).

So on this “official” Giving Tuesday, we’re honoring the nonprofit organizations we’ve been proud to give our time, talents, and donations to during the past year.

Embrace Kids Foundation has had a special relationship with JK since 2002 when our co-founder Jerry Kaulius created a new name and visual identity for what was then “The Institute for Children With Cancer and Other Blood Disorders.” Today, the organization continues to address the spiritual, emotional, and financial needs of families with children facing cancer, sickle cell, and other serious health challenges—and JK continues to support them through donations and volunteering at their events.

Elijah’s Promise believes “Food Changes Lives”—and they put those words into action by serving over 375,000 free meals a year throughout central New Jersey, along with running a culinary training school and offering a variety of other community assistance programs. JKers celebrated National Volunteer Month by providing snack packs and utensil bundles for the organization.

America’s Grow-A-Row has given JK employees several opportunities to spend a day harvesting fruits and veggies that were then donated to local food banks. We’re always excited to support their mission to positively impact as many lives as possible through planting, picking, rescuing, and delivering free fresh produce.

The annual JK Gives Back Sock Drive collected hundreds of socks, gloves, and hygiene kits in 2022. All were distributed through local nonprofits including Food Bank Network of Somerset County, Somerville Alliance for Food Education, Star Fish Food Pantry, Feeding Hands Food Pantry, Raritan Food Pantry and Agape House.

Lasagna Love is a global nonprofit and grassroots movement with a simple mission: feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Several JKers have helped them address the rise in food insecurity by making and delivering meals to families in our communities.

JK was also proud to support the following organizations in 2022 with contributions from the agency as well as our friends and partners.

Free2Luv is dedicated to “empowering, uplifting, and saving the lives of youth through the arts” by providing safe spaces and tools to celebrate individuality and acceptance and “creating a braver, kinder, and more loving world for all.”

SEEDS is a nonprofit organization that prepares motivated, high-achieving, low-income students for admission to private schools and colleges across the country.

Best Friends Animal Society works to ensure that everyone has the same access to loving pets and that every adoptable pet has access to the comfort of a foster home instead of a kennel in a shelter.
